Mr. Jason Lagasca currently serves as a consultant for commercial entities seeking government contracting opportunities and strategic growth partnering with the US Government. He served as the first General Counsel of TransNexus from 2019-to 2021. He is a retired Marine Corps Colonel with over 26 years of military service advancing our national security in key strategic roles. As the Nuclear Nonproliferation Branch Chief on the Joint Staff, he provided the Joint Staff leadership with legal representation in protecting military equities at international venues involving the negotiation and enforcement of arms control regimes and treaties to eliminate the threat of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems. Mr. Lagasca was detailed to the National Counterterrorism Center during its creation and was assigned to the National Counterproliferation Center where he routinely served on ad hoc working groups assembled by the Intelligence Community to address emerging counterproliferation issues and crises response. He also served as the General Counsel (Staff Judge Advocate) for several flag officers and as Chief of Staff to the DoD General Counsel in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he oversaw the legal work prepared for and forwarded to the Secretary of Defense.
In his most recent federal service, Mr. Lagasca was the Director of Operations and Acting Deputy Associate Director of the Liaison Division at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the US Department of the Treasury. In this capacity, he worked with the law enforcement and intelligence communities to provide access to financial intelligence in furtherance of investigating suspicious activity indicative of terrorist financing and money laundering. He also coordinated closely with non-traditional stakeholders (i.e. Combatant Commands, the State Department, etc.) to share information (i.e. identifiers, non-traditional sources of intelligence, etc.) and assist in combating the illicit financial activities of malign state and criminal entities. He designed and supported strategies to share information between the financial industry and the law enforcement/intelligence community through weekly interagency meetings and targeted outreach to relevant federal agencies.
Mr. Lagasca ensured compliance of these initiatives with applicable federal regulations governing the sharing of sensitive information between U.S. Government agencies and financial institutions.
